how it started
2024 I was sceptical about AI models writing my codes that i shipped, perhaps I even shy to to admit it that I utilized AI chatbot during my final semester completing my final year project but hey i managed to introduce what others students didnt do a full fledge magic links auth , working object storage , fully deployed system to compelete the CRUD CRM app that actualy satisify my stakeholders and supervisors. Back then AI chatbots have no real capabilites yet by the model so every docs need to be fed the codebase need to be copy and paste it very hassle but hey it works and proven success.
Then slowly we have Github Copilot and these chinese model popup crashing the stock market and deepseek got viral. read more here
Before that event I was really into deepseek models as it very clever to spot bugs on my code and fix what i need, atleast before it went viral. Post viral its already unusable due to the rate limit lol. Back then I dont spent any money on this AI generative tools the only thing i got access Github Pro as a students which allow me to use the IDE integrated tool Copilot 🤡 . Else it was totally free. No absuive method just question and answer based on the resource i find in youtube official docs to solve my daily problems as a swe while still having those foundations I'd learn during college everything started to make sense and learning barrier just got easier. From here I'd felt more confident with the AI tools.
antigravity came out
Mid 2025 actually i still didnt fully convice on having AI fully does the code my workflow still the same as previous section (got bug and debug) I afraid to evolve beyond that but I'm stil curious back then although cursor already gone viral , anthropic already releasing claude code. And Google launched Antigravity IDE. Again since antigravity is giving alot of free token early on I had to try.
Installed and I already hook up for a few weeks. Never felt this seamless using AI for coding task. Much better than have to copy your function and explain it. It really felt like a super power. Again everthing is fine until they start to be more strict on token usage and its just getting hard and harder to use. So I keep sticking between these new embeded method and old method. Its cool tho ! But i dont feel any worth having to pay the subs as time flows the IDE itself feels alot more bloated and I eventually swithch to Cursor haha. This time I'm really paying the subs.

Honestly is far more better User Experience wise, and yeah of course I had to utilized everything and I started to work on my portfolios learning what else these coding agent can do , then MCP phases started to rollout. It was super fast , the innovation is super rapid with competitors being left and right launching their own alternative its super exhausting. But i got it why we are encourage to keep up in these never ending innovation by the AI labs and companies.
